2009 Lok Sabha Election Update - Election News Details - Election Seat

As the Election Commission formally announced results for 542 of the 543 elected seats in the Lok Sabha by Sunday afternoon, the United Progressive Alliance had 262 seats, 10 short of the halfway mark.

Actress-turned politician Jayaprada, the Samajwadi Party candidate for Uttar Pradesh's Rampur Lok Sabha seat, has been booked for luring women voters by distributing packets of bindis to them, an official said Wednesday.

The youngsters are voters in the Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency and have only a day to decide whether to vote and whom to vote for. The second and last phase of elections to the 28 Lok Sabha seats from Karnataka will be held Thursday, when Dakshina Kannada will be among 11 constituencies to hold balloting.
