714 million people are eligible to vote in the world's biggest democratic Country.

More than 800,000 polling stations have been set up for a five-phased vote over several weeks, watched over by 2.1 million security personnel.

1.1 million electronic voting machines are being used across the nation.

Elephants and Camels are used to remote voters for carrying Ballot Boxes.

Study by PRS Legislative Research says that around 13 percent of women legislators in states and 14 percent of women MPs in the 14th Lok Sabha had criminal records.

Parties can be recognised by their symbols. These range from the mainstream, such as an elephant, a hand, or a hammer, sickle and star, to the less predictable, such as a bicycle, a bow-and-arrow, a pair of spectacles, a telephone or a woman farmer carrying paddy on her head.
